Hear my voice, O God, in my complaint; preserve my life from dread of the enemy. 2 Hide me from the secret plots of the wicked, from the throng of evildoers, 3 who whet their tongues like swords, who aim bitter words like arrows, 4 shooting from ambush at the blameless, shooting at him suddenly and without fear.
5 They hold fast to their evil purpose; they talk of laying snares secretly, thinking, “Who can see them?” 6 They search out injustice, saying, “We have accomplished a diligent search.” For the inward mind and heart of a man are deep. 7 But God shoots his arrow at them; they are wounded suddenly. 8 They are brought to ruin, with their own tongues turned against them; all who see them will wag their heads. 9 Then all mankind fears; they tell what God has brought about and ponder what he has done.10 Let the righteous one rejoice in the Lord and take refuge in him! Let all the upright in heart exult! Meditation “I am not good at this. I feel like I am talking into the air.” Learning to pray is a journey, often feeling like we are speaking into a void. When our relationship with the Lord is deepened we realize God hears our prayers because He hears our voice. Prayer is speaking to a living God and listening to His love. Prayer is not speaking into a void because God hears our voice. David prays for God to hear his voice (1). His circumstances are speaking louder than God’s promises as wicked evildoers are ambushing him without fear (2-4). Do you identify with David? David knows his voice is heard when He remembers God’s word and sees God work. God defends David (7) and promises to defeat the enemy of His people (8-9). God speaks to us in His word- Will we hear His voice? And He shows us that He hears our voice in prayer through His providence, working IN and THROUGH our lives. David began the Psalm in hiding and ends with rejoicing. Let all take refuge in the Lord! Let our hearts trust Him and exult! He hears our voice in prayer, speaks to us through promise, and acts in His providence! You do not speak to a void but GOD HEARS YOUR VOICE! Rejoice and run to the Lord as your refuge. Richly Dwelling -Is prayer awkward to you, feeling like you speak to a void? Does it empower you to know God hears your voice? -Do you hear the struggle of your circumstances more than the word of God speaking to you? Ask for God to give you eyes to see His providence working. -Follow the imperatives of verse 10. God hears your voice so Rejoice! Take refuge in Him! Exult in the name of the Lord! Key Verse 10 Let the righteous one rejoice in the Lord and take refuge in him! Let all the upright in heart exult! Comments are closed.
