Day 556: Psalm 93- Rejoice, The Lord Is King!

The Lord reigns; he is robed in majesty;
    the Lord is robed; he has put on strength as his belt.
Yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved.
2 Your throne is established from of old;
    you are from everlasting.
3 The floods have lifted up, O Lord,
    the floods have lifted up their voice;
    the floods lift up their roaring.
4 Mightier than the thunders of many waters,
    mightier than the waves of the sea,
    the Lord on high is mighty!
5 Your decrees are very trustworthy;
    holiness befits your house,
    O Lord, forevermore.
 
Meditation
Jesus is on the throne, right now, as you read, and He is “making all things new” (Revelation 21:5). Rejoice, the Lord is King! And Jesus Christ is redeeming.
 
Seven of the next eight Psalms celebrate the reign of God as King, emphasizing the need to lift the eyes of our hearts to Heaven to see the rule and reign of the King of Kings and Lord of Lord. Like the gospel message we studied in Isaiah 52 we must proclaim that our God reigns! Rejoice, the Lord is King!
 
The Lord is robed in majesty, ruling over all. Strength surrounds the throne of the Lord who rules eternally (1-2). Tumult surrounds us in troubled waters, floods and fracturing of our Father’s fallen world (3-4). The Lord is trustworthy, holy and set apart. The Lord rules forevermore (5). Rejoice, the Lord is King!
 
Jesus is King of Kings, ruling over the world (even over the troubled waters). Jesus rules over what is seen and unseen, every power and authority of this world is His servant. Jesus conquered our greatest enemy, death itself. He displays His sovereign grace by turning what the enemy intends for evil and using it for good. Rejoice, the Lord is King!
