You will say in that day: “I will give thanks to you, O Lord, for though you were angry with me, your anger turned away, that you might comfort me. 2 “Behold, God is my salvation I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the Lord God is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation.”
3 With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. 4 And you will say in that day: “Give thanks to the Lord, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the peoples, proclaim that his name is exalted. 5 “Sing praises to the Lord, for he has done gloriously; let this be made known in all the earth. 6 Shout, and sing for joy, O inhabitant of Zion, for great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel.” Meditation Nothing can steal Lindsay’s joy. Lindsay greets you with bouncing and hugs, sometimes from 25 yards away while yelling your name. One time Lindsay greeted me with shouting during the worship service from across the sanctuary. Everyone smiled. Lindsay is eager to tell you good news, especially of her dad’s birthday, even if it is months away. Joy flows from the headwaters of a heart that has been saved by grace. When judgment is satisfied our Holy and just God is no longer angry. He comforts us and we are secure in His love. (1) When we trust His salvation we find restoration IN Him. (2) With joy we daily draw from the well of the waters of salvation, security in our Father’s love. He is not angry with us but wants to comfort us. There is no condemnation in His love. Day after day we give thanks, tell others, sing praises, and shout for joy. (2-6) Has the joy of your salvation been stolen? Let me ask you another way- Are you free to shout with joy, even in the sanctuary? Or are you paralyzed with panic because grace has lost it’s grip? Are you drawing from waters other than God’s salvation? Reclaiming joy begins with resting in the finished work of God’s salvation. God is not angry with you but wants to comfort you. Trust Him and His finished work, drawing water from the wells of His salvation. When you do, joy finds you! Richly Dwelling -I love the language of verse 3- With joy we draw water from the wells of salvation. Do you draw upon the Living Waters of your salvation? -Do you believe God is angry with you, upset and wanting you to perform better in life? Do you see God like a teacher who won’t give you a passing grade, a coach who keeps pushing you, or a police officer who wants to give you a ticket? God is none of these things. He wants to comfort you with His love- will you rejoice in Him? -Joy finds you when you rest in God’s salvation. The downstream effects are thankfulness, sharing the good news of salvation, singing and shouting praises. Do these describe you? What does this reveal about what you value more than the salvation of our great God? Key Verse 3 With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. Comments are closed.
