1O Lord, who shall sojourn in your tent? Who shall dwell on your holy hill?
2 He who walks blamelessly and does what is right and speaks truth in his heart; 3 who does not slander with his tongue and does no evil to his neighbor, nor takes up a reproach against his friend; 4 in whose eyes a vile person is despised, but who honors those who fear the Lord; who swears to his own hurt and does not change; 5 who does not put out his money at interest and does not take a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things shall never be moved. Meditation Does your heart cry out for stability as you read the uncertainty of shifting headlines and health statistics of the day? The promise of the final line of Psalm 15 is a rich invitation for security found in following the path of wisdom offered in today’s Psalm. The location of stability is the tent of the Lord, where God dwells with His people (1). But how do I get from the total inability of humanity described in Psalm 14 to accessing the tent of the Lord? The gospel is the key to turn the ignition and the fuel to follow the road to stable ground in a shifting season. Jesus is a God who dwelled among us, (John 1:14) dying in our place, (John 20) so that we can be made righteous and walk the path of wisdom to the tent of His stable presence. This Psalm of wisdom compels us to respond to God’s grace by walking with integrity and treasuring truth in our hearts. We are to speak truth with our lips and lives, loving our neighbors faithfully. Fearing the Lord we should not seek money through dishonest gain. Money is unstable and should not be extorted but stewarded. The path of wisdom leads to a Rock of stability, dwelling intimately with our God who has delivered us from our sin. Dwelling with our loving God compels us to walk in love as He has loved us. (Ephesians 5:1-2) There is stability only in His love. Richly Dwelling -Where are you looking for stability during this stormy season? Status, stuff, finances, connections…? Only the tabernacle of God, Jesus, is stable ground. -Do you see how the gospel turns the key and fuels you to move down the path of wisdom? How can you take God’s work more seriously than your own? -Which way of wisdom is an area of strategic growth for you: Walking in integrity, treasuring truth, fearing the Lord, or relationship with money? How can the gospel grow you in these areas? Key Verse 5 “…He who does these things shall never be moved.” Comments are closed.
