Meditation 'You may never know that JESUS is all you need, until JESUS is all you have.' Corrie Ten Boom spoke these words from a concentration camp after she had everything taken from her. Psalm 62 offers words to worshippers who elevate our trust in God alone through strengthening our satisfaction in Him, no matter what our situation. Jesus is enough. David penned this praise from difficult circumstances, (3-4) focusing faith on God alone for strength and salvation. The Hebrew word for “alone” introduces five verses that empower us to find sufficiency and satisfaction in God alone: God alone is whom my soul waits (1) God alone is my rock and my salvation, fortress, and foundation (2) God alone is my hope; my sole waits for Him alone (5) God alone is my rock and my salvation, fortress, and foundation (6) God alone holds salvation and glory because He alone is our rock and refuge. (7) The command for faith in God alone is an unchanging imperative in the midst of an ever-changing world. Faith in God alone pours out hearts before Him- He is our refuge (8). All people and other sources of power are vanity, a breath (9-10). In contrast, all power belongs to God (11). Believers are secure in God’s steadfast love. (12) Jesus is the fullness of today’s psalm of trust. The work of Jesus secures His people in God’s covenant care, especially during seasons of suffering and struggle. Christians can trust that when Jesus is all we truly have, Jesus is all we truly need. Richly Dwelling -What stands out to you from today’s reading, especially the emphasis on God and His faithfulness as the only right focus for our trust? -Where do you put your trust in times of trouble and trial that is not the Lord and His covenant care? Your resources? Your status? Your strength? How is that working for you? -Which promises in verses 1-8 speak to you the most, all finding fullness in Jesus? And how can you, specifically, focus your trust on Him and His work?
